Canada Goose Coming in for a Landing

Another share from Sunday morning’s visit to Silverton Reservoir. This Canada Goose came in fast, tongue out like Air Jordan.

You can’t see it in this image but geese have serrated tongues. (Feel free to sit with that for a while.) What looks like teeth on their tongues—and on their bills—is actually tomia, cutting edges made of sharp cartilage. Geese can be aggressive too. There are YouTube compilations of people getting attacked by geese, though I don’t have the heart to watch.
