An American Crow’s Noble Pose

On our second night of vacation last week I went out in the evening to scout a location for the next morning’s photography. Driving along Netarts Bay Road, I spotted herons and egrets, belted kingfishers, song sparrows, harbor seals, mergansers, buffleheads, and more. I also saw (and photographed) a ton of Red-winged Blackbirds and this American Crow.
Crows are super smart and gregarious. They are also, if not literally fearless, really quite brave. As I mentioned a couple days ago, I recently watched some crows take on a Bald Eagle at the reservoir.
This noble-looking crow on Netarts Bay isn’t interested in being Instafamous, but it was good enough to pose for me nevertheless.
