Bees on Catmint

A real-life conversation from yesterday:

Me: What’s the plant in the herb garden with all the purple flowers?
Kate: Catmint.
Me: Katniss?
Kate: Catmint.
Me: Catmint. The honeybees absolutely love it.
Kate: We have this same conversation every year.
Me: Really? Including me thinking you said “Katniss?”
Kate: Yes.

Putting this here so I don’t forget next year: Here are some bees in the catmint.

What is striking to me is that, in the sun, a bee’s abdomen seems to be translucent. You can see the full-size versions by clicking on the images.
