A Hidden Whirpool

I love how slowing the shutter speed reveals patterns and motions that were previously invisible. In this instance I blended multiple images to get the foreground, mid-ground, and main subject (the falling water) all in focus. A couple of the images were 5-second exposures; one was 8 seconds. They revealed a kind of whirlpool motion in the water.

I took this picture early yesterday morning. I went to Silver Falls State Park to photograph South Falls, but I forgot they don’t open the gates until 7:00. So I backtracked and found this spot along the (very low) North Fork of Silver Creek.
