On New Year’s Eve day, I went for a walk up at the abbey. There was a thick fog on the hill. It was quiet. The campus was decorated for Christmas.

I didn’t do nearly as much photography in 2023 as I would have liked. In fact, if I’m honest, 2023 was kind of a rough year for me generally. Everything’s solid at home, no worries there, but I have struggled with a soul-deep discontent that I’m trying to understand better. It was nice, then, on the last day of the year, to get out for a few hours to a place that means so much to me.

It was also a good way to get loosened up, photography-wise, before my 365 Photography Challenge, which starts tomorrow.
