I haven’t decided yet if it was a good thing or a bad thing that I read the entire NEW YORK TIMES article about Donald Trump’s vulgar (and frankly predatory) 2005 recording and his non-apology apology for it. I guess I’m glad I know the details. But especially as the father of daughters, I am incensed and disgusted.
Also, I wish I could go back to the nineties and tell my younger self that the evangelical Christians around me who were obsessing over Bill Clinton’s sex life, were actually motivated more by politics than by principle. Based on how many of those same evangelicals are supporting Donald Trump now, I have no other interpretation.
One last thought on this: “Locker room talk” is one of the lamest attempts I can imagine to justify descriptions of sexual harassment and assault. It’s a *wink-wink* at men, as if to say, “You know what I mean.”
